Student Awards & Scholarships

The Philadelphia Section IFT is a proud supporter of exceptional students. Every year we award scholarships to deserving students. The criteria, application, and deadline to apply will be posted here. In addition, students are offered discounted registration rates for Philadelphia Section IFT meetings. 

Philadelphia IFT Scholarship Application Instructions

The scholarship application process requires completing the registration form and providing supporting documents to qualify. All applications must be received by April 10, 2024.

Application Criteria

Applicants must be full-time students, enrolled in a food science or related program of study at the University of Delaware, Drexel University, or Delaware Valley University. Scholarship Applicants must be college undergraduates. Poster Competition Applicants must be undergraduate or graduate students. Applications will be judged without discrimination for age, sex, nationality, religion, or other criteria that could be considered discriminatory.​

Applicants must be members of the IFT and Philadelphia Section of the IFT.

Scholarships are based upon academic achievement and leadership activities as well as involvement in the food industry.

Applications must be submitted by the deadline and in English. Late applications will not be accepted. All information will be treated confidentially.

Applicants must be available for a video interview with the Scholarship Committee in early April (not during Spring Break)

While not required, we hope the winners will be able to attend the Philadelphia IFT Student Appreciation Night at Drexel University on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. Register Here

Student members of IFT are encouraged to become involved in the Philadelphia Section. The networking offered through section events can be important in the development of your career. Our section offers valuable opportunities to make contacts within the local community to help with research, internships and employment.

The Philadelphia Section is also a proud supporter of the IFT Student Association (IFTSA). IFTSA is a forward-looking, student-governed community of IFT members. Membership in IFTSA can help you become a more successful student and enhance your future as a food science professional. Through competitions, networking, and leadership opportunities, you’ll set yourself apart from your classmates (unless they’re members too). Learn more here. Scholarship Program Announcement

The Philadelphia IFT Scholarship program is designed to foster the study of Food Science and Technology and related fields for students based in the Philadelphia area. In addition, this program is also used as a recruitment tool for local colleges and universities that promote the advancement of Food Science/Technology or other closely related fields.
