PHILADELPHIA REGIONAL SECTION Institute of Food Technologists

 

 

The 11th Annual Philadelphia IFT Golf Outing was held on Monday, October 1st at Hartefeld National in Avondale, PA.  In attendance was 129 golfers from companies throughout the region.  The weather was perfect and course was in pristine shape.

 

There were lots of fun challenges for the golfers this year. In addition to the traditional putting and chipping contest, there was a "Beat The Pro" hole where golfers could measure their games against Mike, Hartefeld's assistant pro.  We also had 4 hole-in-one contest holes with the prizes ranging from $20,000 to a flat screen TV.  For the first time in the history of the outing, we had a hole-in-one on the par three 14th Hole. Dale Smucker aced the hole and won both closest to the pin and the contest prize.

 

The Low Gross winning team with a score of 59 was Courtney Cioli, Mike Jay, Bill Frawley and Bob Freney.  Second Low Gross honors with a score of 62 went to the team of John McConte, Mike Lucidi, Steve Mozi and John Delaurentis.  The First Place Low Net team with a score of 44 went to Paul Ricciardi, Juan Carlos Monge, Tung Wei Lu and Alex.  Scond place Low Net went to the team of Monte Hilmoe, Melissa Matillio, Jefferey Erisman and Lisa Hutchinson.

 

Other prize winners for Longest Drive were Krista Ditzler for the women and Brendan Donnelly for the men.  Closest To the Hole winners were Lisa Hutchinson, Bob McCullough, Melissa Matailio and Dale Smucker.  The winner of the Putting and Chipping contest was Bill Frawley.
